Education and Research

Since 2011 Agri Kulti has been engaged in educational activities and conducting research on the fields of sustainable rural development. We intend to be observers, investigators and at the same time active interveners of the environmental and social challenges.

In education we do research, and in doing research we educate. We identify leverage points and reveal opportunities, make practical development proposals and mostly also start to implement them. This provides new areas of research, education, and so on. Practical achievements give authenticity to education, while research provides professional/scientific background for the implementation.

Agri Kulti education and research activities go beyond the boundaries of conventional forms of training. Apart from training and research we intend to provide full interoperability and participation for all students and external experts in consultancy and also in practical implementation, in order to take advantage of the synergies on these fields. Care is taken that different generations should equally take their share from each-others education.

Methodological steps:

  1. Theoretical foundation – on the fields of ecology, agriculture and social sciences, with the help of Hungarian and international experts + analyzing different case studies.
  2. Resource- and challenge-inventory – mapping of local stakeholders + ecological, social and agricultural resources. We mostly use the toolbox of participatory action research.
  3. Proposals – research summaries identify key leverage points and are accompanied by practical development proposals.
  4. Implementation – most development proposals are also being implemented and tested in practice.
  5. Monitoring – how do practical implementations operate on the longer run?

Our experiences show that to formulate strategies, development plans and actions using the above approach and methodological steps can be really effective.
